MINERAL WELLS, Texas, April 7, 2016 – Cool City Avionics, manufacturer of automatic flight guidance and control systems for helicopters and airplanes, today announced that it has embarked on a Supplement Type Certificate project to install its HFC-150 3-axis autopilot with Stability and Control Augmentation System on Airbus H120 (formerly the EC-120) helicopters.

“For the past couple of years, we have been receiving calls about the availability of our 3-axis HFC-150 autopilot and SCAS system for several Airbus helicopters, including the H120,” said Rick Milburn, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Quite a few inquirers have expressed their desire for the yaw axis, as well as the SCAS function. We already have an STC project well underway for the AS350, so we decided several months ago to start one for the H120.” he added.

The HFC-150 system reduces pilot workload, stress and fatigue, improves aircraft stability and passenger comfort, and increases safety in low-visibility conditions. The system is lighter in weight and much lower cost than the old 3-axis systems on the market. It is also a member of the family of Cool City autopilots that are the only ones certified to the latest FAA TSO, C198.

MINERAL WELLS, Texas, March 1, 2016 – Cool City Avionics, manufacturer of automatic flight guidance and control systems for helicopters and airplanes, today introduced the company’s new corporate logo that reflects its successful and ongoing transition from a product design and development company to an innovative, high-quality manufacturer of state-of-the-art, FAA-certified autopilots and stability augmentation systems.

Having completed a 10-year program to develop and certify its initial family of 2- and 3-axis autopilots and 2- axis stability and control augmentation systems, and after developing a steadily-growing network of national and international dealers, now totaling 53, the company decided it needed a new logo to represent its move into manufacturing.

The new Cool City logo evokes the image of a modern, high quality, high technology company. The blue palette and modern fonts lend a strong, crisp, clean, forward-thinking look.

Cool City also has a new tagline – “Fly easier…safer!” – that reflects the company’s intention that its products be both helpful to the pilot and safety-focused.

The logo and tagline have changed to better represent what the company is today, but its value proposition remains the same – a combination of high technology, innovative engineering, high quality products and strong customer support that will develop long-lasting customer relationships.

Cool City supports safety enhancements described in IFR White Paper

MINERAL WELLS, TX  (July 29, 2015) – Cool City Avionics, a manufacturer of low cost, professional-grade autopilots and stability augmentation systems, wishes to express its strong support for helicopter industry-proposed changes to FAA certification requirements for single-engine IFR.

In June 2015, an Association and Industry White Paper was prepared, in cooperation with the Helicopter Association International, American Helicopter Society International, General Aviation Manufacturers Association, and the Aircraft Electronics Association, and submitted to the FAA for review.

This White Paper points out a strategy to reduce fatal helicopter accidents by facilitating IFR operations, in lieu of VFR, when conditions do not support safe flight under VFR. The White Paper also details a proposal to facilitate an economically-viable IFR certification plan for single-engine helicopters.

Please download and read the full White Paper: http://www.rotor.org/rotornews/july15/se-ifr.pdf

Cool City Avionics autopilots meet, or exceed, the requirements described in the White Paper, including High Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF) and Lightning.

When Cool City Avionics’ engineers began the development of their family of 2- and 3-axis autopilots and SAS/SCAS Stabilization Systems, they recognized the significant safety improvement that would result from providing IFR-capable autopilots for helicopters, particularly single-engine helicopters.

“From the beginning, we designed the family of 2- and 3-axis autopilots and stability augmentation systems for IFR operations,” said Jim Irwin, President/CEO. “Our products are the first, and only, helicopter products certified to the new Technical Standard Order (TSO) C198, and the FAA-approved documentation supporting the Cool City products makes them qualified for IFR approval under the appropriate Supplemental Type Certification (STC),” he added.

For aftermarket installations, helicopters must be IFR-approved using the STC process, but when so approved, the Cool City autopilot becomes part of that STC certification for IFR flight.

Cool City Avionics’ family of  Autopilots and SAS/SCAS systems are designed not only for today’s helicopters, but for future aircraft as well. The family of autopilots is available from your nearest Cool City Avionics dealership. A list of dealers is available on the website at www.CoolCityAvionics.com/dealers.

Six autopilots are the first to be certified to the requirements of FAA TSO-C198 and RTCA DO-325 MOPS.

MINERAL WELLS, TX (September 4, 2014) – Cool City Electronics, Inc., dba Cool City Avionics (CCA), a manufacturer of low cost, professional-grade automatic flight guidance and control systems and stability augmentation systems, is pleased to announce that it has received FAA Technical Standard Order (TSO) authorization for its new family of helicopter autopilots.

The TSO includes the HAP-100 2-axis autopilot, the HFC-100 2-axis autopilot with SCAS, the HAP-150 3-axis autopilot, the HFC-150 3-axis autopilot with SCAS, and the HFC-150-LE and HAP-150-LE that add an orbit mode specifically designed for law enforcement and electronic news gathering helicopters.

These new products are the first professional-grade certified autopilots that are affordable for installation in small to medium-sized helicopters, with introductory prices for the four systems ranging from $34,995 to $67,995, plus installation kit and installation.

“Our mission, since we began the development effort in 2004, has been to produce high-quality, certified, current-technology flight control systems that are affordable for use in virtually every small to medium-sized helicopter. In the past, only large helicopters had autopilots, primarily because of the high cost of the earlier systems,” said Jim Irwin, President/CEO.

“After almost ten years of development, we are very proud to be the first company in the world to have our family of autopilots approved under the new FAA TSO-C198 and the RTCA DO-325 MOPS,” he added.

The STC for installations in the Robinson R44 is expected shortly and STC projects are already underway or planned for the Robinson R66, Airbus AS350, Sikorsky S-61, Airbus EC-120 and EC-120, and the Bell 206 and 407 models. Derivative autopilots for airplanes are now in development for delivery in 2015.
